This week, we have been entertained (and educated!) by the global flash mobs who took to the streets to mark International Condom Day, an informal annual celebration of safer sex hosted and supported by AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the largest global AIDS organization.
Held in 26 countries around the world, most of the activities for International Condom Day featured Condom Flash Mobs – with several thousand participants in some areas – distributing AHF’s LOVE-branded condoms and performing intricate and entertaining dance performances.
“Last year on International Condom Day, we took part in activities in 30 cities scattered throughout 15 countries worldwide,” said AHF President Michael Weinstein. “The fact that we have more than doubled the numbers of cities taking part in this normalization, encouragement and education surrounding condom use shows how much these countries value safer sex as a preventive measure in the fight against HIV/AIDs.”
AHF is a global organization providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to over 190,000 people in 27 countries. It is the largest non-profit provider of HIV/AIDS medical care in the U.S.
Remember: while the risk of hepatitis C being spread through sexual contact is extremely low, it’s always smart to practice safe sex.
