Love Your Liver

January 21st, 2013

Love your liverThis week, we’ve been looking at the Love Your Liver website from Hepatitis Australia.

Packed full of useful information and handy tips for keeping your liver healthy, the site also features a list of the worst toxins found in everyday life that cause the most damage to the liver.

A key fundraising activity for Hepatitis Australia is the Love Your Liver Lunches initiative, which encourages people to organize healthy feasts with friends and family. The site has a great collection of simple and wholesome recipes to inspire and tempt.  We were particularly drawn to the chunky chilli con carne and the blueberry friands.

O’liver, the friendly mascot for Hepatitis Australia, often takes to the streets raising awareness of liver health.  Last year, he led an entertaining flash mob in Sydney to mark World Hepatitis Day. With over 2,000 Australians dying each year from chronic liver diseases, cirrhosis and cancers of the liver, gall bladder and bile ducts, he serves as a timely reminder to be liver-conscious.
