Stars to pay tribute to Bruce Springsteen at MusiCares Person of the Year gig

January 3rd, 2013

MusiCares Person of the Year Gala ConcertAn all-star line-up including Elton John, Eddie Vedder, Neil Young, Mumford & Sons, Faith Hill and Alabama Shakes will pay tribute to music legend Bruce Springsteen next month at the annual MusiCares Person of the Year gala concert.

Hosted by Jon Stewart, this sold-out (and unfortunately non-televised) concert will feature other music greats including Patti Smith, Tim McGraw and John Legend.

All proceeds raised from this year’s concert will, as in other years, go to the non-profit MusiCares Foundation, founded 23 years by the Recording Academy, under whose auspices the Grammy Awards are presented.

The MusiCares Person of the Year gala concert was created to “provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.”

The MusiCares Foundation offers programs and services to members of the music community including emergency financial assistance for basic living expense and treatment for a variety of critical illnesses including hepatitis C, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

Bruce Springsteen is in good company: previous MusiCares Person of the Year honorees are Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Barbra Streisand, Brian Wilson, Neil Young and Stevie Wonder.

The concert will take place on 8 February 2013 in Los Angeles.
