A health clinic in South Bronx has released a video, ‘Santa Passes out Clean Needles for Christmas’, on its website to promote services to combat hepatitis C and HIV during the holiday period.
As many as 3.2 million Americans have hepatitis C, a blood-borne viral infection that is the most common cause of severe liver disease and liver transplants in the US. Given that the infection causes symptoms in relatively few people, there’s an increased need for clean needles and the use of condoms.
